It is refreshing to take a dip in the pool on hot summer months. But when the weather turns cold, we can’t just let our pools go ignored because of the freezing waters. With the use of pool supplies like pool heaters, taking laps on the pool and pool parties can still go on. Well, there are three types of pool heaters: the solar, gas and electric heat pump. Solar pool heaters generate power from the sun and with no cost at all. The pool pump runs the water through the solar heater, thereby warming the water. Solar pool heaters have low maintaining cost. However, initial cost for installation is very costly. It requires a large electric pump plus the solar collectors should be at least half the size or equal to the pool surface area. But, no worries, your solar heaters can last up to 15- 20 years. Gas heaters are generally expensive but it is the most popular pool heater. Gas heaters run on natural gas or propane and the heating mechanism is similar to that of electric heat pumps. Since it is connected to a gas line, running it for longer periods can be very costly. That is why, gas heaters are only used for occasional heating. They can quickly warm the water up and can maintain the temperature despite cold weather conditions. An electric heat pump sucks air in, warms it up and then transfers the heat to the water with the use of a compressor unit. Heat pumps are energy efficient. It is different from electric heaters that cost a lot of money. Since it uses electricity, you will need an electrician to install this unit for you.
